This week I had the pleasure of taking part in the Big Ideas day run by Solutions for the Planet with Year 8 students from St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College in Bradford. Solutions for the Planet is a social enterprise, working with businesses, schools and communities to promote education for sustainable development, social enterprise, and science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers for young people. The Big Ideas day is a full day workshop for school children to help them come up with a novel sustainable concept for they can take forward to a nation wide competition. It was great to see so many interesting ideas coming out from the children’s groups and there were may excellent presentations at the end of the day. St Bede’s and St Joseph’s team entry last year came third nationwide so there is high expectation for the students this year. I’m looking forward to continue to mentor the students over the coming academic year
